I’ve been a big fan of Harajuku fashion. Before 2020, many of the styles featured in my project were vibrant and active around Harajuku. After the pandemic, new styles like Ryosan-kei (量産型) and Jirai-kei (地雷型) became dominant, causing many older styles to decline. 

This project is also my way of reminding people of the beauty and diversity of these gorgeous styles. I incorporated butterfly wing shapes to highlight the key elements of each fashion style because the diversity of butterfly patterns, along with their flexibility and life, reflects my impression of those drawn to Harajuku fashion: people brave enough to be themselves and pursue happiness in their way.
